Turkey Exports 60m Roses

Turkish flower producers have exported 60m roses to 50 countries ahead of Valentine’s Day. The countries include United Kingdom, Ukraine, Netherlands, Germany and others. The shipping of the flower began 20 days ago, İsmail Yılmaz, the head of the Central Anatolian Ornamental Plants Exporters’ Association, said while talking to Anadolu agency.

The production last year was lower than that of current year due to unfair weather conditions, Yilmaz said, adding that this year exports are up by 6m as compared to the last year. Exports are worth USD 6.5m and new orders will be delivered via airway before 14 Feb.

He further said that 90% of total Turkish flowers exports consist of carnation, a flower that is considered native to Mediterranean.
