The NBA All-star MVP Award has been permanently renamed after Lakers Legend Kobe Bryant who lately passed away in a helicopter crash that killed 9 including her daughter Gianna whom he was taking to her basketball game.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Kobe’s death was unspeakable and the league was eager to honor him.

“Kobe Bryant is synonymous with NBA All-Star and embodies the spirit of this global celebration of our game. He always relished the opportunity to compete with the best of the best and perform at the highest level for millions of fans around the world,” said silver.

Kobe who died at 41 will have an award namesake: Kobe Bryant MVP Award which will be presented to the most valuable player at the end of the NBA All-star game between the winner of the teams led by Bucks’ Antetokounmpo and La Laker’s Lebron James this Sunday at United Center in Chicago.
