The death toll form Coronavirus has increased to 170 and with the confirmation of case in Tibet the epidemic has now reached in every region across mainland China. Chinese health authorities have confirmed 7,711 cases across country as of Jan 29, 2020. The infection has also transcended to 15 other countries across globe.

World Health Organization on Thursday will once again chair a meeting to review the epidemic for the declaration of global health emergency.

“In the last few days the progress of the virus, especially in some countries, especially human-to-human transmission, worries us,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday.

The World Health Organization DG named Japan, Vietnam and German where the disease has been transmitted from the people who have earlier visited China.

Although the numbers outside China are still relatively small, they hold the potential for a much larger outbreak,” the Chief added.

Though the death toll is no as much as in 2000’s when the SARS broke out for the first time yet more people have been affected by the stealth epidemic that has reportedly engulfed 170 in China.

Researchers are making efforts to develop a vaccine that could be used for human trials by June or July.

Voluntary evacuations of foreigners are underway from the region and China while UK, Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia are expected to enforce the quarantining of the evacuees for two weeks as they return to their homelands. Australia has announced plans to quarantine those returning on Christmas Island, 2,000 kilometers away from the mainland, originally a detention center previously used to contain the illegal refugees and asylum seekers. On the other hand, the Singapore vows to construct a quarantine facility on Palau Ubin, an island that lies in the north-east of the South-east-Asian nation. Meanwhile, the daily life of Wuhan natives is under an unprecedented lockdown.
